Who is eligible to join the 1666 community?

First and foremost, a 1666 resident does NOT have to be retired. We welcome you, actively working or actively retired. An eligible buyer is a current or former University of Minnesota faculty, professional and administrative, or civil service staff member (at least 55 years of age) and spouse (regardless of age). The widow or widower (at least 55 years of age) of an eligible person may also apply.

If you decide to purchase a unit, it is necessary to indicate in some detail the nature and dates of your employment with the University of Minnesota. A brief application form is available.  Click HERE to download the form or request a copy from the 1666 Coffman Condominium Association (1666 Coffman Street, Falcon Heights, MN 55108-1330, 651-644-4541). If a couple will be applying, all applicants must sign the application form and attach proof of birth dates with a copy of a government issued ID such as a passport or drivers license.

First, the Board of Directors reviews your application and sends a letter of acceptance. Then, if you are eligible, the financial transaction between you and the seller must be completed. Third, you become a member of the 1666 Coffman Condominium Association. Each unit has a percentage of voting power determined by the square footage.
